Khaki & White
I may or may not be slightly freaking out about the upcoming family picture next month. My Mother has been quasi-harassing my siblings and I over e-mail, stressing the importance of this all-family-included portrait.
A professional photographer has been hired, we have the date (don't screw it up), the time (don't be late) and we have all been clearly instructed (several times) to wear khaki pants and a white shirt.
::::::screeeecchhhh::::::
Wait. What did you say?
What do you mean "khaki and white"? Khaki pants? Khaki skirt? Light khaki, dark khaki, brown khaki, tan khaki, long khaki, dark khaki?
Khaki, khaki, khaki???
I seriously dare you to type khaki that many times in a row and think you have spelled it right...
That was me freaking. Can you tell? About a month ago I picked up a pair of khaki pants from Target. These are the pants I will wear but I am hoping to bump into the "unless I find something better" pants. Plus, the khaki pants I picked up are a light khaki pant. Almost, flesh colored. Almost, I can see every imperfections in your legs (and dear God let the sun not cast down shadows and reaaallllly show every imperfection) pants.
That was me really freaking out.
So, today I decided to un-freak myself out and do some Googling/Pinteresting for classy khaki pant and white shirt combos that might inspire my outfit for our photo.
Nope. Still freaking. But I did find a few cute summery combos via Polyvore that are cute anyway.
Wish me luck?

Two to the Doctor
I have been a little "off schedule" the last few weeks (ahem, months) with my boys. James is over 4 months old and I haven't gotten his three month pictures taken, for one. I am nearly dreading family functions, as, slowly people are starting to ask where his picture is. There is no lack of pictures of James, let me tell you. However, I haven't taken them to Target portrait studios and cranked out a couple of shots for the baby book and such. I do hate the idea that I haven't given James the same sort of picture taking attention I gave to David, but things are a lot more complicated with two! At least, that is what I keep telling myself.
In addition to pictures, both were over due for visits to the doctor. I thought I might as well save myself a trip and take both boys, each with their own appointment, at the same time. Well, that sounds good but it was a real task managing both boys (and their tears) at the doctor's office by myself.
Thankfully, there were only tears and no fits. David started crying as soon as I started to take his t-shirt off! One by one they got their height and weight and each had their own check-up. Right now I am carting around a 29 pound 2 year old (I have to mention David is in the 98% for height. Tall, tall, tall.) and a 17.5 pound 4 months old! Not to mention a car seat, diaper bag and...
my go-go-gadget third arm appears to hold my diet coke...
I am sure soon enough Pete will ask me when my go-go-gadget fourth arm will appear to hold our third child?
Too soon. Too soon.

St. Patricks Day 2012 Party Highlights
To celebrate my 25% Irish (and my designated holiday to celebrate at my house) we threw a St. Patty's party at our home last weekend.
As we all know, Minnesota weather can be totally unpredictable. Who would have predicted we would have had a 80 degree day! Almost unbelievable! Of course, once the inside of our home hit 78 degrees we decided to run the air conditioner. Which we quickly realized, was broken. Great.
It didn't help that I had been cooking a ham in the over for 5 hours either. But everything turned out great anyway, as , most of us hung out outside in the warm weather anyway.
We ended up having 26 people attend our party. My Mom and I coordinated the menu and party lists via Google Documents. I highly recommend using Google Docs if you need to share a document over and over again!
The menu? We planned for 30.
16.61 lb Ham (Cub)
Corned Beef & Cabbage (Cub Beef $2.99/lb, Cabbage $.69/lb)
Cold Spring Vegetables (Aldi - Carrots $.69/pack, Pea Pods/Green Beans $1.49/pack )
48 Croissants (Cub - $5.99/24)
40 Varied Sliced Cheeses (Cub - $1.99/10 slice)
3 Mustard Varieties (Aldi - $1.29/bottle)
Mayo
Butter
Spring Fruits (Aldi - Grapes $1.34/lb, Strawberries $1.69/pack)
Ripple Chips (Aldi - $1.19/bag)
Party Mix (Aldi - $1.99/bag)
Anyone who offered to bring something, I asked to bring dessert and we ended up having a table full of a variety of sweets! It was perfection!
Most of the decor I purchased last year on after holiday clearance and I printed the water bottle labels and other party decor via How Does She.

Monday Giveaway: Vintage Black and Pink Color Block Aviators
**PLEASE CLICK BLOG POST TITLE TO ENTER GIVEAWAY**
As you know, I have been selling vintage online and through some of the occasional sales (which have been happening almost every weekend!) of the ladies of Mighty Swell. It seems like the birth of my children always put my shop into a bit of a hiatus. Maybe featuring a little gem in a giveaway will light a little fire under my vintage-loving arse... and a clean vintage closet = an extra happy husband!
Today's giveaway is a pair of 1980's aviator style sunglasses from my collection. They feature a pink accent in the center of the brow. Perfect for this Spring's color blocking trend!
Besides being awesome in general, people will ask you where you got them and you can reply, "They are vintage!"
Please remember, if I ask you to specify in an entry, please do so or your entry will be forfeited. If I cannot verify you completed my giveaway tasks (i.e. commented in a post, subscribed with a real e-mail, 'like' a page ect) you are not eligible to win the prize if your name is chosen to win.

Fun Mail Relieves Flu Symptoms!
*2 more days to ENTER MY CLOTH DIAPER GIVEAWAY!*
Some kind of achy flu bug has left me and my oldest on the couch in our pajamas for the last 24 hours. Thankfully, the husband put me to bed at 8:30 with a dose of Sprite every few hours.
Of course, my pains have come on a 65 degree March day and I had to miss a girlfriends bridal shower this morning, no less.
I let myself walk wobbly to the mailbox this afternoon in anticipation for receiving James' new BabyLegs! I had myself a 'Napolean Dynomite' moment as I opened the mailbox and exclaimed a long whispered, "Yesssssssssssss."
Here James is playing with his Skip Hop (you can buy this one and other 'Tree Top Friends' on clearance at Wayfair Toys) monkey toy with his new BabyLegs on!
James is wearing BabyLegs' Organic Orange/Aqua legwarmers. Currently, BabyLegs is featuring "Springtime in Paris" legwarmers.
I also had to take the opportunity to show off James' GroVia shell in planes! Today I used a regular prefold but my favorite combination is the GroVia shell with a Flip stay-dry insert.
Just a little peek into our day!

Party Flop?
I stayed up late last night putting together some of the little touches for David's 2nd Birthday dinner tonight.
I made and hung the poms, blew up balloons, covered the tables. I also put up bunting, set up the cake table and arranged flowers.
Last night, our little family went out to dinner and then went to the pet store to pick up David's present from Mom and Dad...
2 fish.
He was so cute carrying his little bag of goldfish through the mall as we left.
We set up his tank last night and we were so excited to have David see his fish in his lit up tank with bubbles in morning.
However, this morning when I whisked David into the kitchen to show him his "party", the bunting fell down, the flowers had wilted, the balloons had leaked helium all night and were droopy and sad...
and the fish were dead.
